When using the card legitimizes one with pin code, so image and ID no longer have any function that naturally belong together with the credit card, says Haraldsen. Chairman of the Joint Committee for payment, Eldar Skjetne, has previously stated to DinSide that industry wants that credit cards should not be a valid ID in Norway, just because credit cards do not provide enough security against counterfeiting and copying. Does this mean that more banks will follow suit and do as Gjensidige? ID cards than for so long? Ann Haakonsen, Communications Director of Finance Norway, told DinSide that it is up to each bank whether they will offer credit cards with a picture on the back or not, and that they did not list which banks no longer issue such cards. - Our impression is that many choose to continue with the issuance of credit portorechner cards with a picture as a service to its customers until the state comes with its citizen card, hopefully in 2016, says Haakonsen.
