Wine with age, sizable one at that, fascinates most of us wine friends. We dream to try the recognized producers from great vintages. 1961 and 1982 in Bordeaux, in 1959 and 1976 in Moselle, 1945 Vintage Port or maybe a 1974 text from the Napa Valley. We glorify the history, wines from a bygone era, and keep some of them as our greatest wine experiences ever. But how does one proceed in order to find something with age and how do you avoid going into a trap?
With experience and many old wines tested, it's very easy to state; disappointments have been more than the moment where time stopped for a moment. To try old wine is extremely click and collect hazard-oriented and one can naturally ask why we do it. There is no easy answer, but as much as they seek understanding, how a wine develops, it is the pursuit click and collect of the special beverage experience and a memory for life. Buying old wine
Few of us today have access to a wine cellar or so is our collection of age restricted. To then go out on the secondary market and buy wine with age requires a certain amount of risk. Worth having in mind as a bottle / one party noticed is:
Certain elements may likely never be assured. The story of the bottle remained click and collect untouched in the basement in close to 30 years of age may sometimes be taken with a bucket click and collect of salt. Are these highly coveted wines is authenticity also something that can, and should ensure as far as is humanly possible. But it is visible to the eye can help you a lot.
Thus, having a routine to always eye level in the bottle in relation to age. If a wine from the early 1970s dropped down against the bottle's shoulders, it is not necessarily a negative sign, but if it already passed the shoulders perhaps alarm bells start ringing.
Do you have a whole box in front of you of the same wine and the level is equivalent in bottles, this can be both comforting as cause for concern. The wine has been stored too hot or irregularly? The next step is then to call if the cork has tended to be pressed upwards in the vial, a sign that the wine has been subjected to heat. A wine purchased during the 1980s in France and then in the summer heat guppat around in pre-air-conditioned car all the way home to Sweden, could have easily made her almost immediately.
Storage is of course essential, click and collect but difficult to get confirmed. click and collect Ultimately, other factors control, if possible, such as finding a reputable dealer that you really trust. If you buy at auction, it is worthwhile to look extra on every bottle / box is stored as it is often mentioned. Sought-after wines have a tendency to change hands more than one occasion as the ultimate is to buy bottles that come directly from the producer's click and collect own cellar. If and when such an opportunity arises. CHATEAU WINE
A castle lost wine, for example if we are discussing Bordeaux, was by no means a matter of course for a half-century ago. You get to encounter both the Belgian, Danish and English-bottled by renowned castle wines. In some cases, these bottlings an even better reputation than slottsavtappningen but this is a whole chapter of its own. As a starting point, and if your knowledge of härtappade bottlings are limited, focus solely on slottsavtappningar. Authenticity
The authenticity is further a dilemma. click and collect Some wines are of course no economic reason to falsify click and collect but do not think it specifically click and collect is the most sought after wines that sustains criminal elements who see the chance to make a killing. Although click and collect other wines such as Port and Madeira age are vulnerable to fraud.
An old bottle click and collect of something undrinkable stencileras with an age indication click and collect - nothing more - and sold for a reasonable sum. Although there is a risk when buying old wine. Moreover, we now know from experience click and collect that even the most experienced auctioneers have allowed themselves to be fooled and failed in the assessment of authenticity.
Always keep in mind when buying old wine that is 'caveat emptor' click and collect applies. The buyer's risk. Be prepared for many disappointments but lose nor patience for when you hit the right so you could be facing a vinous click and collect experience that follows you for life. And remember, there are no old great vintages, just perfect uppbevarade bottles. And a bit of luck.
Footnote. In Sweden, it is of course mainly the recurring wine auction rate which is a gateway click and collect to old wine but with the so-called Rosengren's Cathedral you can also as a private person buying from another EU country, as long as you follow the rule
